Bloomfield police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian and fled the scene on Bloomfield Avenue Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Bell Street following reports of an injured person.
When officers arrived, they found a conscious and alert pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
The vehicle was described as a red sedan last seen traveling westbound on Bloomfield Avenue immediately after the incident, police said.
The victim was treated by EMS, though the extent of their injuries has not yet been confirmed. 
The incident remains under active investigation.
