Bloomfield Police, Firefighters to Receive Awards for Going Above the Call of Duty

Bloomfield

Members of the Bloomfield Police and Fire Departments will receive awards on Wednesday June 16, for going above and beyond the call of duty.

During the pandemic, Bloomfield first responders put their lives in jeopardy to ensure the safety and health of the community.

“Our first responders keep Bloomfield families safe every day and during COVID, many of them went above and beyond for our residents,” said Mayor Venezia.

“The officers and firefighters that are receiving awards are more than deserving because of the work that they have done this past year.”

The ceremony will take place outdoors and Mayor Venezia and council Members will be in attendance along with the police and fire department command staffs.

Special recognition awards will be given by the Director of Public Safety and the Fire Chief along with the other 26 awards for bravery and heroism.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is to recognize the bravery and heroism of our police officers and fire fighters that is displayed on a daily basis especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This event is one of the highlights of the year for both departments,” said Public Safety Director Samuel DeMaio.
