Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that injured a man overnight in the city.
Authorities were contacted by Beth Israel Hospital officials when a male victim who arrived by private vehicle entered the hospital's emergency department suffering injury from gunfire shortly after 2 a.m.
The extent of the victim's injuries or the exact location of the shooting was not immediately available but police checked the area of Frelinghuysen Avenue and Miller Street for a possible crime scene.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by The Newark Police Department.
