Multiple Rounds of Gunfire Erupts in Paterson Injuring Two

There were non-life threatening injuries reported in a hail of gunfire that erupted in a Paterson neighborhood early this morning.

Reports of shots fired in the 600 block of East 23rd Street sent police to the scene shortly before 4 a.m. where officers located an active crime scene with multiple shell casings found according to reports.

A search of the area had officers locate no victim but their was evidence that there may have been an injured person.

A short time later, officials at the St. Joseph's Hospital contacted authorities when two victims were transported by private vehicle to the hospital's emergency department suffering apparent gunshot injuries.

The first victim, only described as a 23-year-old Wayne man, was shot in the arm.

The second victim, only described as 30-year-old Passaic man, was grazed in the head by a bullet. Both men are said to be in stable condition.

Police recovered over a dozen shell casings at the scene and are investigating the motive behind the shooting.

There were no reports of arrests made.
