A shooting on Union Ave. and Yale Street has police on the scene investigating. Gunshots rang out around 5PM where residents ducked for cover in the neighborhood that sits across the street from the Garden State Parkway. A short time later, as many as 7 people checked themselves into Beth Israel Hospital in Newark all reported to be shot and in serious condition. An investigation is underway by the Irvington Police Department.
A shooting that occurred almost at the same time on North 6th Street in Newark sent some confusion throughout on whether the incidents were related.
There were no injuries in the North 6th Street shooting.
