NEWARK NJ: Police are investigating two overnight shootings that left two people shot and seriously injured overnight.
The first shooting occurred just before midnight when the victim reportedly walked into the emergency room at University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim later revealed that the shooting occurred in the area of Fabyan Place and Hawthorne Ave., when at least 4 masked men robbed then began to fire gunshots. The suspects, only described as black males, reportedly fled in a 4-door vehicle. The victim's injuries were not considered life threatening.
Police are investigating another shooting where the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds on the 100 block of Brunswick Street. Police responded to reports of shots fired and found the victim in serious condition. The victim was taken to University Hospital just after 1:30 AM.
It was not clear if the two shootings are related.
