Non-Life Threatening Injuries in Overnight Newark Shooting

Authorities are investigating late night gunfire that injured a man in Newark.

Police responded to reports of shots fired that erupted in the area of 9th Street at 6th Ave. a little after 11 p.m.

Units arrived to the scene where they found a male victim suffering a gunshot "graze" wound to the abdomen at that location.

The man was transported to University Hospital where he was expected to be ok.

Earlier in the day in a separate shooting, several police units responded to shots fired on the upper floors of a building in the 200 block of Morris Ave. where the located a female victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the hand.

The woman was taken to University Hospital where she was treated then released.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a black 4-door 2013 Nissan according to police.

The motives for both shootings are unknown and being investigated by Newark Police.
