There is an active investigation underway in the area of Springfield Ave. and Sayre Street for evidence of a shooting that reportedly occurred in the area a short time ago.
Officials at University Hospital contacted police shortly before 6:30 a.m. after a victim suffering a gunshot wound entered the hospital's emergency room.
The victim reported being shot on Springfield Ave. after an alleged carjacking where two black males reportedly opened fire after taking his vehicle.
The suspects are reportedly occupying a dark colored Range Rover but it is not immediately clear if this is the alleged carjacked vehicle.
The condition of the victim is unknown at this time but there were no reports of life threatening injuries.
