Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are in the early stages of investigating a homicide.
According to authorities , the victim was shot multiple times in the vicinity of 125 Brunswick Street in the city of Newark shortly before 1 p.m.
He was pronounced dead 1:36 p.m. today at University Hospital. His name is not being released pending notification of his family.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
Authorities said, at this time, the motive has not been determined.
No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
