Separate overnight shootings in Newark has police searching for suspects.
Gunfire rang out shortly before midnight in the area of Astor Street and Brunswick Street sending several police units to the scene where there located one person shot to the leg. EMS transported the victim to University Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Police also found a vehicle in the area struck by gunfire.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a victim suffering injury from apparent gunfire arrived by private vehicle to University Hospital where the victim reported being shot on Central Ave. and 3rd Street a short time before arriving at the hospital.
Police set up a a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence.
The motives for both shootings are under investigation.
