A months-long investigation into alleged online activity involving sexually explicit images of minors has resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old Dumont man, Bergen County authorities announced.
According to information released by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, Nicholas J. Farinola, 45, of Dumont, was taken into custody on November 4 following an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit.
Authorities said the investigation began on April 22, 2026, after Dumont police provided information suggesting Farinola was in possession of inappropriate sexual material involving minors.
Detectives subsequently launched an investigation that included a court-authorized examination of Farinola’s electronic devices.
Investigators reportedly uncovered evidence indicating that Farinola had viewed, downloaded, saved or possessed images depicting nude or sexually explicit material involving prepubescent and pubescent minors.
Following the investigation, Farinola surrendered to Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detectives on November 4.
He was charged with possession of sexually explicit images of minors and endangering the welfare of a minor, both third-degree offenses.
Farinola was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending his initial appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
The investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, with assistance from the Dumont Police Department.
