Authorities in Bergen County have announced a second arrest and additional charges following a hit-and-run crash on Route 17 in Paramus that claimed the life of a woman earlier this week.

According to information released by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, Michael C. Marciano, 47, of Fairport, New York, was arrested as investigators uncovered additional evidence connected to the October 19, 2026, collision.
Prosecutors said the crash occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. along Route 17 South near Westfield Garden State Plaza.
Investigators determined that a 2024 Acura towing a U-Haul trailer, driven by 31-year-old Estuardo G. Rodriguez, collided with a 2015 Buick carrying passenger Krisiann Reyes Rivera.
Rivera was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Rodriguez was initially charged with death by auto, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, endangering an injured victim, and driving while suspended in a collision resulting in death.
As the investigation continued, detectives allegedly discovered that Rodriguez possessed suspected Ecstasy and Percocet at the time of the crash.
Authorities also searched the Acura and attached U-Haul trailer, recovering several hundred THC cartridges.
Investigators subsequently determined that the Acura belonged to Marciano, who had also rented the U-Haul trailer.
According to prosecutors, Marciano was traveling in a separate vehicle alongside Rodriguez at the time of the collision.
The investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Paramus Police Department.
Authorities have not disclosed the specific charges against Marciano in the portion of the release provided.
The case remains under investigation.
