A frightening scene took place in Camden County Tuesday afternoon when a teenage driver lost control of an SUV and struck six teenagers walking along a sidewalk near Lindenwold High School.

According to information reported by ABC Action News (6abc), surveillance footage captured the moment a Cadillac SUV suddenly veered off Gibbsboro Road, jumped the curb, and crashed into a group of students shortly after 2 p.m.

The victims, ranging in age from 14 to 16, were rushed to area hospitals after the collision.

Authorities said one teenager became trapped beneath the vehicle and had to be rescued before being airlifted to Cooper University Hospital.

Police identified the driver as a 16-year-old boy who now faces multiple aggravated assault charges and a joyriding offense.

According to NBC10 Philadelphia, investigators believe reckless driving, rather than an intentional act, led to the crash.

All six victims are recovering, authorities said.

The driver remains in custody at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center as the investigation continues.
