Police are on the scene of a shooting that left a juvenile wounded in Newarkâs West Ward Friday evening.
According to preliminary information, gunfire rang out shortly before 6:15 p.m. in the area of South 9th Street and 15th Avenue, sending several Newark Police units to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers found a juvenile suffering from gunshot wounds at the location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment, where his condition was only being reported as severe/life threatening at this time.
Authorities have established a crime scene in the area while investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Residents are urged to avoid the immediate area as police continue their investigation.
No information regarding a possible suspect or motive has been released.
