Raymond Tines, 42, of Washington Township, was sentenced to five years in New Jersey state prison following convictions stemming from separate weapons and child cruelty cases.
According to information released by authorities, Superior Court Judge Renard L. Scott imposed the sentence on August 31, 2026, as part of a plea agreement.
Court records indicate that in April 2021, a Washington Township resident reported that Tines, who lived nearby, attempted to enter the resident’s home while armed with a handgun. 
He was also reportedly seen standing outside the residence with the weapon.
Police arrested Tines later that day at his home, where officers recovered a handgun and a firearms identification card. Authorities said Tines did not have a permit allowing him to carry the handgun in public.
The child cruelty charge involved an unrelated incident from 2020. Prosecutors said Tines assaulted a minor who was in his care, causing injuries to the child’s face and body.
Both cases were resolved together under the plea agreement, with Tines receiving a five-year state prison sentence for second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
