East Orange Police and EMS responded to a shots-fired incident late Thursday that left a man seriously injured.

Just before 10:35 p.m., gunfire rang out in the 400 block of Park Avenue, sending several police units to the area to investigate.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where his condition was reported as life-threatening.
Police established a crime scene along Park Avenue and searched the area for evidence connected to the shooting.
As of 4 a.m. Friday, there were no immediate reports of arrests, and a possible motive remained under investigation.
East Orange Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
