Police officials in Newark are investigating a shots-fired incident that erupted in a South Ward neighborhood Saturday night.
Just before 10:50 p.m., a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the 60s block of Mapes Avenue, sending several police units to the area to investigate.
The device reportedly picked up approximately eight rounds of gunfire. Officers searched the area, but no injuries were immediately reported.
No arrests have been reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
