Police Investigate Jersey City Shooting Beneath NJ Turnpike Extension

Police launched an investigation Wednesday afternoon after a person was found suffering from gunshot injuries beneath the New Jersey Turnpike Extension in Jersey City.

According to preliminary information, officers were called to the area of the 400 block of Newark Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

 

Police arrived and located a shooting victim beneath the Turnpike Extension bridge. 

The extent of the victim’s injuries has not been officially confirmed by authorities.

 

Officers secured the area and expanded their search for evidence while detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

 

At least one witness was reportedly secured by police as part of the investigation.

 

Authorities have not released information regarding a possible suspect or what may have led to the shooting.

 

The incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
