Emergency crews responded to an overturned and burning vehicle on Route 22 in Bridgewater early Monday morning.
According to preliminary information, firefighters were dispatched to the area of Route 22 near Finderne Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. after receiving reports of an overturned vehicle.
Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle on its side with heavy fire coming from the engine compartment. Initial reports indicated that responders could not immediately gain access to the vehicle.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the visible flames and began overhaul operations.
The incident was initially reported in the westbound lanes, but officials later updated the location to the eastbound side of Route 22.
As of approximately 4:30 a.m., police reported that one left eastbound lane remained closed near Finderne Avenue while emergency crews continued operating at the scene.
Information regarding possible injuries was not immediately available.
Motorists traveling through the area should use caution and expect delays while authorities investigate the crash.
