Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle crash Monday night after one of the vehicles slammed into a home at the corner of Tappan and Linden avenues in Belleville.
The collision occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in the area of 56 Tappan Avenue.
According to preliminary information, the crash involved two vehicles, with one vehicle leaving the roadway and crashing into a two-and-a-half-story, two-family home on the corner.
Firefighters, EMS personnel, Belleville police, and mutual aid responders from neighboring communities were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities reported that injuries were sustained in the crash, though the extent of those injuries has not yet been released.
Belleville Mayor Frank Velez confirmed the incident and praised the emergency response.
“Please be advised that there was an accident at the corner of Linden Avenue and Tappan Avenue earlier this evening. The Belleville Police Department and Belleville Fire Department responded quickly and, as always, with professionalism, care, and compassion for those involved. I will continue working to keep residents informed of significant incidents affecting our community and provide updates whenever appropriate. Please use caution if traveling through the area, and thank you to our first responders for their swift response.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Motorists were urged to avoid the area while emergency crews worked to secure the scene and assess any damage to the home.
