Police are investigating an early Monday morning shooting that left one person seriously injured in Jersey City.

Officials say, the shooting was reported at approximately 4:20 a.m. in the vicinity of the 400 block of Bergen Avenue.
Responding officers located a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital after reportedly being struck seven times.
Police also recovered approximately eight to 10 shell casings at the scene as detectives began processing the area for evidence.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, and no additional information, including the victim’s condition or any potential arrests, has been released.
