A Gloucester County man has been sentenced to state prison after admitting to illegally possessing ammunition despite being prohibited from doing so under New Jersey law.
According to information released by prosecutors, Alexander L. Golecynski, 44, of Woolwich Township, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Russell A. DePersia to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of ammunition.
Authorities said the case stemmed from a motor vehicle stop conducted by an East Greenwich Township police officer on February 15, 2024.
During the investigation, officers searched Golecynski and recovered 17 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition.
Prosecutors said Golecynski was legally barred from possessing ammunition because of prior disorderly persons and domestic violence-related convictions.
The sentence was imposed as part of a negotiated plea agreement.
