Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is asking for the public’s help in locating a woman wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month.
According to information released by the Newark Department of Public Safety, police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:56 p.m. on July 13 in the 100 block of Berkley Avenue.
Investigators said surveillance video captured a man wearing gray sweatpants and a black T-shirt arguing with someone standing in the doorway of a residence.
A woman accompanying the man was seen attempting to calm him before the man allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired a shot toward the front door.
The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Responding officers recovered a .380-caliber shell casing from the sidewalk and discovered a bullet hole in the home’s front door and another in a wall. No injuries were reported.
Authorities are now seeking Jennifer Zumba Salto for questioning as the investigation continues.
