An adult woman died following an apparent drowning at a residence in Millburn on Sunday evening, according to emergency dispatch information and officials familiar with the incident.
Emergency responders were called to a home in the single digit block of Ironwood Road area shortly after 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a possible drowning.
Arriving crews immediately began CPR in an effort to save the victim.
Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, the woman was pronounced dead.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office was notified and is involved in the investigation, which is standard procedure in fatal incidents.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or disclosed the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
