A Perth Amboy man accused of critically injuring two people during a shooting last month has been arrested following a multi-agency fugitive investigation.
According to information released by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, 46-year-old Jarvis McCloud of Perth Amboy was taken into custody on July 23 in Philadelphia after authorities tracked him down following a coordinated operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service.
The investigation began after police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:51 p.m. on June 25 in the parking lot of 178 Front Street in Perth Amboy.
When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim had been shot in the neck, while the second sustained injuries to the leg and hand. Both victims were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
Investigators with the Perth Amboy Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office identified McCloud as the alleged shooter during the course of the investigation.
Authorities charged McCloud with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Officials said McCloud was apprehended by members of the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force-Trenton Division, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia.
McCloud has been returned to New Jersey and is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pretrial detention hearing.
