A 43-year-old Irvington man has been charged in connection with the burglary of a Maplewood business earlier this month, authorities announced.

According to Maplewood Police Det. Steve Gyimoty , officers conducting routine patrols at approximately 1:42 a.m. on July 8 discovered a large amount of shattered glass on the sidewalk in front of a business in the 2200 block of Millburn Avenue.
Officers determined the business had been burglarized and contacted the owner, who responded to the scene.
Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Alvaro Lorenzo Hernandez, 43, of Irvington.
Police charged Hernandez in connection with the commercial burglary and transported him to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.
The investigation into the incident has been completed by the Maplewood Police Department.
