Linden city officials have announced the launch of the Linden Opioid Eradication and Abatement Initiative, a citywide effort aimed at addressing substance use, alcohol misuse, and mental health challenges through education, prevention, and community-based support.

As part of the initiative, the city will host a Safe Haven Community Kickoff on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church of Linden, located at 929 Dill Avenue.
The free event will bring together residents, healthcare professionals, faith leaders, and local advocates to connect the community with life-saving resources, promote awareness, and strengthen partnerships focused on recovery and prevention.
City officials said the initiative expands on Linden’s existing Mayor’s Wellness Campaign and supports the city’s Stigma-Free designation, adopted earlier this year. The designation is intended to encourage individuals experiencing mental health or substance use disorders to seek help without fear of stigma or discrimination.
As part of the campaign, Linden is also promoting the green ribbon, the international symbol of mental health awareness, as a visible sign of support for those living with mental health conditions and individuals in recovery.
The Safe Haven Community Kickoff is free and open to the public. For more information, residents may contact the Mayor’s Office at 908-474-8493 or visit the City of Linden’s official website.
