Service on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail was temporarily suspended Tuesday night as police investigated a suspicious package at the Harborside Station in Jersey City.

Jersey City Police and NJ Transit Police responded to the station at approximately 10:05 p.m. after an unattended bag was discovered on the platform.
Authorities evacuated the area as a precaution while an explosives K-9 unit and bomb technicians were requested to investigate the package.
About a minute later, NJ Transit issued a transit alert announcing that Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service had been shut down due to police activity at the Harborside Station.
The nature of the unattended bag turned out to be non-suspicious.
