A Linden police officer discharged their weapon during an incident on the 1300 block of Roselle Street in Tuesday, leaving both the officer and the subject hospitalized.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under active investigation.
Both the individual involved and the officer were transported to separate hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
As is standard protocol in New Jersey, the incident will be investigated by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
Roselle Street remains closed between Jackson Avenue and Pierce Avenue as investigators continue processing the scene.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area until further notice.
