Police are investigating two residential burglaries that occurred on June 18 in Montclair, during which thieves stole cash and jewelry from separate homes.

In the first incident, on Highland Avenue, homeowners reported that an unknown suspect entered their residence during the afternoon hours and stole an envelope containing approximately $3,000 from a home office.
A nanny who was inside the residence told police she heard the front door slam around the time of the burglary.
In the second incident, on Bloomfield Avenue, residents told police they were away from their apartment for about four hours.
When they returned, they discovered cash and jewelry had been stolen. Investigators also learned that several jewelry boxes inside the residence had been rummaged through.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
