A three-vehicle crash on Route 21 North in Belleville Sunday afternoon left multiple people injured and temporarily disrupted traffic, according to Belleville police spokesman Detective Captain
John McAloon.

Captain McAloon said officers responded to the collision at approximately 2:55 p.m. on June 8 near mile marker 7.4, in the area of the Little Street entrance ramp.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Hyundai Sonata traveling northbound in the left lane lost control and veered across the roadway before striking a guardrail.
Moments later, a 2023 Hyundai Tucson entering Route 21 from the Little Street on-ramp collided with the disabled vehicle while merging onto the highway.
Captain McAloon said a third vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Avalon traveling northbound, attempted to avoid the crash but struck a guardrail before coming to rest against a concrete barrier.
The driver of the Hyundai Sonata, a North Bergen resident, was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with a possible jaw injury.
The driver of the Hyundai Tucson, a Belleville resident, was taken to University Hospital complaining of pain.
A female passenger in the Tucson was also transported to the hospital with abdominal pain.
The driver of the Toyota Avalon, an Orange resident, was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment of neck and back pain.
Investigators determined that none of the drivers appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and all were found to be properly licensed and in good standing.
As of Tuesday, June 9, police reported that all injured individuals were listed in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation
