Downed Tree Suspends NJ Transit Morris & Essex Line Service Overnight

NJ Transit officials temporarily suspended service on portions of the Morris & Essex Line shortly after midnight Saturday following a hazardous condition caused by severe weather across the region.

According to NJ Transit, train service was suspended in both directions between Morris Plains and Mount Arlington after a tree fell across the tracks near Mount Tabor.
 

Crews were dispatched to assess the damage and work to safely clear the obstruction before service could resume.
 

Passengers traveling through the affected area were advised to seek alternate transportation arrangements and check for service updates.

The incident comes after periods of stormy weather moved through parts of New Jersey Friday evening and overnight. No injuries were immediately reported.
