The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over an investigation into an early morning shooting that left a juvenile injured in Paterson on Friday.

According to preliminary information, police were dispatched to the 20 block of Third Avenue just before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived, they located a male juvenile, believed to be about 15 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.
As of 4:30 a.m. Friday, the victim’s condition had not been immediately released.
Authorities taped off the area as investigators searched for evidence and processed the crime scene. 
No arrests have been announced, and a motive for the shooting remains under active and ongoing investigation.
