An Atlantic City man was sentenced to state prison Thursday after admitting he assaulted his girlfriend inside her home while her children were present, according to information released by authorities.

Calvin Gunn, 41, of Atlantic City, was sentenced on May 28, 2026, by Superior Court Judge Pamela D’Arcy to five years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to third-degree aggravated assault.
Authorities said the sentence also included violations of probation in two prior cases.
Gunn was resentenced to three years in prison in each of those matters, with all sentences ordered to run concurrently.
According to investigators, officers with the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a residence on September 5, 2025, after receiving reports of a woman being assaulted.
When police arrived, the victim told officers her boyfriend, identified as Gunn, entered her home while she was sleeping and repeatedly struck her in the head and face.
Officials said the assault left the victim suffering from persistent ringing in her ear.
The victim’s children were inside the home at the time and heard the attack take place.
Gunn fled the scene before officers arrived, but police located and arrested him later that day.
During his guilty plea, Gunn admitted he caused significant bodily injury to the victim during the assault.
