Nine Injured After NJ TRANSIT Bus Collides With Utility Truck in Union

Nine people, including a bus driver, were injured after an NJ TRANSIT bus collided with a utility truck in Union Township on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

According to NJ TRANSIT officials, the crash occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. when a bus operating on the 114 line made contact with a PSE&G line truck at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Spruce Street.

 

The bus had departed the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City and was traveling toward Bridgewater Mall when the collision occurred.
 

Officials said there were approximately 25 passengers aboard the bus at the time of the incident. Eight passengers and the bus operator were transported to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

 

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and assisted those involved. 

The extent of damage to the bus and utility vehicle was not immediately released.

 

Union Township police are leading the active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
