A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer, a tow truck, and an unoccupied New Jersey State Police vehicle left one person seriously injured Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 in Bergen County, authorities said.

According to a preliminary investigation, troopers responded to a crash scene at approximately 8 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound near milepost 60.7 in Elmwood Park.
Investigators said a Freightliner tow truck was occupying the right travel lane while assisting with a previous crash because there was no available shoulder.
An unoccupied New Jersey State Police vehicle was positioned behind the tow truck with its emergency lights activated to protect the scene.
Authorities said Michael Fisher, 41, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was driving a Kia SUV westbound when he approached the crash scene.
For reasons that remain under investigation, the Kia crossed the roadway to the left and struck a concrete barrier.
Following the impact, the vehicle came to rest in the left lane.
Moments later, a Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by Olawale Adegbenro, 67, of Greensboro, North Carolina, approached the scene and began to jackknife.
The rear portion of the trailer struck the unoccupied troop vehicle before crossing the roadway to the left, hitting the concrete barrier and overturning onto the Kia and the barrier.
The tractor portion of the truck came to rest in the eastbound lanes, while the overturned trailer remained in the westbound lanes, creating a major disruption for motorists.
Fisher sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Adegbenro suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation by New Jersey State Police.
