Police Seek Two Persons of Interest in Newark Motorcycle Shooting Investigation

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating two individuals connected to a shooting investigation that occurred earlier this month in the city’s North Ward.


 According to information released by the Newark Department of Public Safety, officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:57 p.m. on May 7 near Bloomfield Avenue and Crittenden Street. 

When police arrived, they canvassed the area and recovered three shell casings.

 

Investigators determined that two individuals dressed in black clothing were traveling eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue on a motorcycle when the passenger allegedly fired multiple shots at another person riding a motorcycle westbound on the avenue.

 

Authorities said the first individual, who was wearing a hat, is wanted for questioning as detectives continue their investigation. 

Police are also seeking to identify a second individual who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
