Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one injured early Sunday morning in the city’s Ironbound section.
According to preliminary information, a ShotSpotter device alerted police to gunfire in the 40s block of Congress Street just before 2:00 a.m., prompting officers to respond to the area.
Upon arrival, reports say officers located one individual suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment, but their condition has not yet been confirmed.
The Newark Police Department’s Shooting Response Team responded to the scene and is leading the active and ongoing investigation.
