According to police, officers have responded multiple times to the store at 8–12 Franklin Street for reported thefts over recent days.

These incidents reflect a pattern that officials say has impacted several businesses in the area, including Home Depot and stores along Broad Street such as CVS.

On April 17, 2026, officers were dispatched to Marshalls after a loss prevention officer reported that a suspect—who had been arrested earlier that same day—returned to the store, concealed three pairs of shoes, and exited without paying.

The merchandise was valued at approximately $239.97. That incident remains under investigation.

In a separate case later that same day, police responded again to Marshalls after a male and female suspect allegedly removed a handbag from the shelf, filled it with six pairs of shoes, and left the store without paying.

The stolen items were valued at $514.93.

Also on April 17, 40-year-old Ms. Amina Nobles of Bloomfield was arrested following a shoplifting incident at the same location.

According to officials, the suspect concealed various clothing items in her bags and attempted to leave the store without paying.

She was stopped by a loss prevention officer before exiting. Responding officers took her into custody, transported her to Bloomfield Police Headquarters, and charged her before releasing her with a court date.

On April 18, officers were again called to the store after a male suspect allegedly concealed ten pairs of socks, a belt, and body wash in a bag before leaving without paying.

The value of the stolen merchandise was approximately $199, according to police. That incident also remains under active investigation.

These repeated cases reflect a growing concern regarding shoplifting in Bloomfield. Law enforcement has increased patrols and continues to work closely with retail partners to identify suspects and prevent further incidents.

In response, many businesses throughout the township have stepped up their security measures, including hiring additional loss prevention personnel and enhancing in-store surveillance systems.

Bloomfield officials urge anyone with information about these incidents to contact local authorities as investigations remain ongoing.
