A victim of gunfire that originally killed one person and injured four others in Newark has a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office announcing a second fatality this afternoon.
Multiple rounds of gunfire rangout in the 100 block of Brunswick Street shortly before 11 p.m. on July 1, 2015 sending a large police presence to the scene where three people were found suffering serious injuries from gunfire. Two other people were transported via private vehicle to the hospital also injured by gunfire.
The spokesperson said, Bashir Edwards, 29, of Newark was pronounced dead at University Hosversity the next day.
According to the spokesperson, on July 3, 2015, at around 3:30 p.m., Keyon Diggs, 26, of Newark died after a brief stay at University Hospital.
The investigation is active and ongoing. At this time the motive is unclear.
No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
