An investigation is underway after four people were shot during an incident in Paterson on Saturday evening, according to information released by Mayor Andre Sayegh.

A significant police presence was observed at the active crime scene in the area of East 29th Street and 10th Avenue, where officers from the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office responded.
Preliminary reports indicate that a children’s birthday party was taking place nearby when gunfire erupted.
Authorities were seen placing several evidence markers throughout the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
Mayor Sayegh confirmed that four individuals were struck by gunfire.
Their conditions were not immediately released, but officials said officers have been deployed to local hospitals to monitor the victims’ status.

The motive behind the shooting remains under active investigation. No additional information has been released at this time.
