Authorities in Essex County are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian Friday night in Millburn.
According to a statement released by Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Millburn Police Chief Brian Gilfedder, the incident occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. on March 27 at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Parkway and Fineran Way.
Police responded to reports of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, first responders located the victim, who was later identified as Joseph Francis Andolino, 73, of North Palm Beach, Florida.
Officials said Andolino was transported to Overlook Medical Center in Summit, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:49 p.m.
Authorities confirmed that the driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation. No additional details have been released at this time.
