A 17-year-old girl is recovering after being struck by gunfire Tuesday evening in Newarkâs West Ward, authorities said.

According to Emanuel Miranda, police were dispatched around 6:03 p.m. on March 24 to South 6th Street near Cabinet Street following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they located the teenage victim suffering from a graze wound.
Officials say the incident stemmed from a dispute between the victim and a woman known to her.
During the altercation, the suspect fired a weapon, striking the teen.
The victim was transported to University Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Newark authorities.
