Suspect Wanted for Newark South Orange Avenue Shooting

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting that left a man injured in Newark earlier this month.

According to information released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the incident occurred on Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

 

Police were alerted after the victim arrived at University Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Investigators determined the shooting took place in the 200 block of South Orange Avenue, near Littleton Avenue.

 

Officials say the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument before the suspect fired a shot, striking the victim in the leg.

 

The suspect is described as a tall Black male with a medium complexion. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black Nike ski mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, pants, a black coat, and gray sneakers. 

After the shooting, he fled westbound on South Orange Avenue.

The victim’s injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
