Woman Fatally Struck by NJ Transit Train at Orange Station Overnight

A woman was fatally struck by a train early Friday morning at a rail station in Orange, authorities said.

According to information released by NJ Transit, the incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. when Train 442 on the Morris & Essex Line struck a female trespasser near the Highland Avenue Station.

 

Officials said the train had departed Gladstone at 11:53 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Hoboken Terminal at 1:22 a.m.

 

The woman sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. 

Authorities reported that the eight passengers and crew members on board the train were not injured.

 

The incident remains under investigation by NJ Transit Police.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of family members.
