A fast-moving house fire in East Orange early Wednesday morning sent one person to the hospital and prompted a quick response from local firefighters.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue around 2:45 a.m. after receiving several reports of a fire inside a residence at that location.
When firefighters arrived, they immediately stretched hose lines into the home and began attacking the flames.
Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in a short amount of time, preventing the fire from spreading further.
Officials said one unidentified male was transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been immediately confirmed.
The cause of the fire remains under an active and ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not released additional information at this time.
