Serious Crash on I-287 in Bridgewater Leaves One Severely Injured

New Jersey State Police are investigating a late-night crash that left at least one person severely injured on a major highway in Somerset County.

According to preliminary information, the collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 287 near mile marker 14.4 in Bridgewater.

 

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after reports of a serious crash. 

 

Upon arrival, crews found a heavily damaged vehicle and at least one individual who had been ejected. 

 

The victim sustained severe injuries that were described as potentially life-threatening.

 

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the driver of one of the vehicles involved may have left the scene. 

 

As of 4:30 a.m., New Jersey State Police had not confirmed whether contact had been made with that individual or the circumstances surrounding their departure.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation. Authorities have not released additional details at this time.
