Early Morning Shooting Injures Male in Jersey City

An active and ongoing investigation is underway after a man was shot in Jersey City early Sunday morning.

Authorities say gunfire erupted around 1:30 a.m. in the vicinity of 117 Wade Street, near Martin Luther King Drive. 

 

Responding officers arrived at the scene and located at least one shell casing in the roadway, prompting detectives to launch a shooting investigation.

 

A male victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound to his leg. 

 

Officials say the injury is considered non-life-threatening, and the victim is expected to recover.

 

Investigators are also working to determine whether the shooting may be connected to a reported hit-and-run incident in the same area. 

 

At this early stage of the investigation, police have not confirmed any direct link between the two incidents.

 

No additional injuries have been reported.
 

The incident remains active as authorities continue to gather evidence and canvass the neighborhood for information.
