Police in Newark are asking for the public’s assistance following a daytime shooting that damaged a vehicle but left the intended victim unharmed.
According to Emanuel Miranda, Sr., officers were dispatched around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, to the area of Grafton Avenue near Broadway after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they located shell casings and other ballistics evidence at the scene. 
A male victim was later identified and found to be uninjured. However, authorities confirmed that the hood of his vehicle sustained damage from gunfire.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking help from the public to identify individuals who were reportedly with the suspect at the time of the shooting.
