Mayor Jenny Mundell acknowledged that recent ICE actions across the country and within New Jersey have contributed to heightened fear and uncertainty, even when enforcement activity occurs outside municipal boundaries.

In a statement, Mayor Mundell emphasized that the township remains a Fair and Welcoming Community and reaffirmed that local police do not participate in federal immigration enforcement, in accordance with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office Immigrant Trust Directive.

Municipal leaders said they have been in direct contact with the Governor’s office to coordinate around newly announced state tools and protections aimed at increasing transparency and accountability related to federal immigration enforcement.

Officials also noted ongoing communication with other mayors and regional leaders to explore a coordinated response strategy.

To ensure residents have access to accurate information and support, the township has compiled legal and “know your rights” resources, which are available on the official Bloomfield website.

Officials said the resource page will be updated as new information becomes available and urged residents to rely on verified communications from state, county, and township sources.

Township leaders concluded by encouraging residents to continue supporting one another, reiterating that Bloomfield remains committed to protecting the safety, dignity, and constitutional rights of all who call the community home, regardless of immigration status.
